WOODBLOCK CHOCOLATE X SERRA RELEASES EXPANDED AND REDESIGNED LINE OF BEAN-TO-BAR CANNABIS CHOCOLATES
In 2017, Serra released its first edible: the original Serra x Woodblock Chocolate collection. The three flavors contained only four essential ingredients—cacao, cane sugar, cocoa butter and cannabis. The cacao beans and nibs were sourced through Woodblock Chocolate’s direct relationships with family-owned farms in Peru, Ecuador, and Tanzania, distinguishing the collection from current edibles by taking each ingredient as seriously as Pruf Cultivar’s carefully extracted, strain-specific cannabis oil.
This summer, Serra worked closely with Portland's first bean-to-bar chocolate maker once more, revisiting recipes with customers’ feedback in mind to reimagine both flavor and form. The result is a wholly remastered look and lineup for the Serra x Woodblock Chocolate collaboration.
The refreshed collection features artwork by Portland painter Maja Dlugolecki, who worked directly with Serra to paint something inspired by each flavor based on the unique ingredients, cannabinoid content, potency and general effects. Her paintings appear on each package, as does the artist’s signature.
“It’s exciting that there is a crossover of art and design—two languages I’ve studied—coming together in this chocolate bar,” says Dlugolecki about the collaboration. “It feels like a full-circle moment.”
