A new flavor and feeling has joined Serra Confections.

Inspired by the feeling of energy, the Matcha Coconut Gumdrop is a limited edition sweet from an exclusive partnership between Serra and Tea Bar. It contains a 1:1 dose of 5 mg THC and 5 mg CBD, along with Tea Bar’s stone-ground, culinary matcha sourced from Uji, Japan. Combined with the sweet, nutty flavor of real coconut purée, the contemporary flavor stands out from the fruitier candies so prevalent in the cannabis industry. The serene 1:1 energy boost embodies the gentle lift of a Tea Bar matcha latte, and the superplant trio of cannabis, coconut and matcha celebrates the gourmet potential for the realm of edible cannabis.

To mark the culinary achievement, the Matcha Coconut Gumdrop is launching today for FEAST, Bon Appetit magazine’s weekend festival revelling in gourmet exploration. As Feast’s first cannabis partner in past years, it was Serra’s intention to create a new gumdrop flavor not only inspired by Tea Bar, but one crafted especially for sophisticated palates rather than bang-for-your-buck edibles. 

Serra and Tea Bar began the process with a look at the elements shared between the brands, as well as what complemented the other. Holly Hukill, Serra’s Product Development Director, worked directly with Erica Swanson of Tea Bar to identify all the possibilities for ingredients and experience. 

“We started out with some Tea Bar favorites like cardamom chai, jasmine, rose and hibiscus before landing on the distinctly bold flavor of matcha,” says Hukill. “We then played around with complementary flavors like pear and apricot, but ended up falling for the way coconut’s sweet nuttiness rounds out the flavors of the matcha. Two superfoods united!”

The smooth buzz associated with matcha perfectly matches the measured uplift from equal parts CBD-rich flower from East Fork Cultivars and high THC flower from Pruf Cultivar. The occasionally anxious side effects of THC are curbed with a presence of CBD, resulting in a smoother high. Depending on cannabis tolerance, circumstances, and body chemistry, one might feel more energized, relax more functionally, or regulate their appetite more effectively with a balanced 1:1 dose of THC and CBD.

During FEAST 2019, attendees will be able to visit Serra’s Big Feast booth to sample uninfused (non-cannabis) gumdrops, as well as the rest of Serra Confections. Anyone over the age of 21 can experience the real deal at Serra dispensaries starting 9/13. The Matcha Coconut Gumdrop is available in two sizes: mini 2-packs starting at $6 each, and a 10-pack box starting at $18.50. After the exclusive Serra launch during FEAST 2019, limited quantities of Matcha Coconut Gumdrops will be available at Farma, Electric Lettuce and Five Zero Trees.
